The seventh international sports competition to be conducted in the
Maldives this year, the Maldives International Challenge 2022 badminton
competition, is inaugurated by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
At the Male' Ekuveni badminton court, the inaugural ceremony took
place this morning. The president watched some games after the ceremony.
The Maldives International Challenge 2022 will take place from
October 18 to October 23, 2022, and was a challenge in the DWF continental
circuit this year. This challenge will have 200 players from 25 different
nations. Through the course of the competition, top badminton players from
around the world will compete.
A commitment to hosting international sporting events in the
Maldives is stated in H.E.P. Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's manifesto. It is the
seventh international competition that the country has held this year. According
to Ahmed Mahloof, the Minister of Youth, Sports, & Community Empowerment,
ten international tournaments will be held in the country before 2022 is over.
